Because it is in a Public Forum, and its purpose is to stimulate open dialogue,
there should be no problem in my sharing a little of what's posted there.
EDIT: Jude Connors has advised me that this thread is open for public viewing,
but not for public posting.
After reading the eUSForums thread, come back here and post your thoughts as Comments to this article, and I'll post them to the thread, myself.

Congress seems to have very little to do but many folks feel that to give Congress more responsibility is a bad idea. I would like to start a conversation about all this. I have. almost since I started playing, that the way to make our team strongest is to stop wasting so many votes during the Congressional elections. It would help us in our ATO efforts more than a little. The thing is people NEVER like the way I would go about this so I want to hear from all of you.

If we're going to improve the system, we need to understand why people hate the current system, such as why people hate Congress. Figuring out where there are problems and where we are fine can help us understand what we can do to improve it.

If we had -competent- political parties, I'd feel safe in removing the FEC, and returning to a no holds barred political process.

I have been saying for months now that I believe each candidate - each party-approved candidate provide four blockers of their own.

Why do people hate congress? Because it's stupid. The people in it are random people grabbed by parties and voted into congress by 5 or 6 mobile voters because we desperately need to cover all of our regions.

As far as our political system goes, it's game mechanics and something we can't change; we can only learn how to make it work best for us.
Editor's Note: Find this post and read the whole thing.. mjdiv is hardass and straight up.

Off-Topic Fun
I guess "rage quit" happens out in the real world, too.. I mean, of course it does-- and it's more than just flippin off the boss and walking, it's become an art form out there, too.
An article on AOL.com, it showed up on my junk mail homepage.

Military in Gov! Not allowed when I served but, I LOVE THE IDEA! Have my support. Great article Custer.
Even though the forum is the "Public Congressional Proceedings" forum, only Congressmen can actually "Join the Conversation".
I do hope that people are watching, though.
Thanks, Jude.. I did not know that.
I'll edit this piece and ask readers to post their thoughts here, I guess, and I'll post them to the thread.

I like where your head is at Congressman Custer. V
The one disappointment of V2 is that the political module din not changed one iota. I was hoping for state level election...mayor, governor, etc...
I think we should base how many seats each party gets based on activity. For example, if UIP and TAMA keep showing 80+% absences, they should lose 80+% of their seats to parties who have supplied active Congressmen. I also think that members of Congress who fail to meet a certain level of activity should not be allowed to even run again. This is up to the parties, and parties need to step up.
I'm honestly not going to go read congress proceedings because the eUS forum makes me rage, but I agree wholeheartedly with Zeutheir. It would make Congress a better place and make the activity levels more important.
I think Zeutheir is on the right track.
If a congressperson cannot fulfill a minimal level of obligation (that is, VOTING!), he or she should automatically lose the seat. That need to be a good game rule, as only the admins could enforce it.
.
There should be a way to kick useless or disruptive members out of congress. An impeachment process? That could certainly help with PTO problems.
.
The biggest source of our problem may be *essential*. The USA has 50+ regions and only lost noobies live in the non-fortress states. Elections in CA and FL are hotly contested and we usually get a highly qualified candidate. But in most of the rest, people fly in to vote, then fly back out, so people get voted in by having a few buds and enough money for MTs. How can we fix this problem?
Let's hear it for Custer, the un-f***er-upper!
Congress needs to be a lot more open. That forum is designed to frustrate the most patient citizen.

I commented.
People keep saying congresspeople should lose their seats for inactivity, but I'd like to ask who should replace them. We have a hard enough time filling the spots out with blockers and inactives, much less with active congresspeople.
@Zheng He "How do we fix this problem":
We don't. Game mechanics have us boned here. Either we deal with it and scramble for people or we whine about it in threads like that one.
Balthier speaks truth.
If Communist eChina can do it, I'm sure the eUS can do some sort of attendance policy wrt congress as well.
